The Provincial superior Rev. Sr. Joviet took initiative to start this convent and Nirmala Medical Centre hospital. This convent was blessed by Mar George Punnakkottil on January 10, 2001. On May 12, 2001 the hospital was blessed and on September 12, 2001 the Nursing school also was started. Rev. Sr. Lucy was the 1st superior of the convent and Rev. Sr. Lilly bet was the 1st Administrator of the hospital and Rev. Sr. Antonito was the Principal of the Nursing School. Besides the General Nursing Course, few new courses were added. Nursing Assistant's training program, Post Bsc Nursing, Bsc Nursing, Yoga Therapy are the newly added courses. Nursing Assistant training program has started in the year 2005 with the help of Kerala State women's Development Corporation. Now it is a multispecialty hospital with various departments. A section on Ayurvedic treatment is also added in . Quarters and hostel facilities are given for Doctors and staff.
