Some sisters of the province had an ardent desire to lead Ashram life in solitude.  Hence Sr.Lesieux Mary, the Provincial Superior, searched for a lonely place and Vadattupara was found apt for this purpose.  In a very small hut, it was decided to start a convent where the sisters could spend their time in prayer and work.  Under the patronage of St.Francis this convent was called Alverna.  The house was blessed by Fr.GeorgePadinjarayil on 1st February 1992.  Sr.Sushama was the First superior. Mother Aloshia and Sr.Emeedia were the other members who led a very simple, hard working, Ashram life.  Now this house is converted as an ordinary house of the province.
